CBI Hosts Poster Contest in Honor of Missing Children Deadline: February 9, 2024
In honor of missing children across the country, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is hosting a poster contest for Colorado 5th grade students as part of a national campaign sponsored by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ).
Every year the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) takes time to commemorate the valiant and unselfish acts of the many organizations and individuals who bring our missing children home. Since 1983, May 25th has been designated as National Missing Children’s Day.
Arrests Made in Alleged Sex Assault in Ouray
Three people have been arrested in connection to an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Ouray on May 14, 2023.
At the request of the Ouray County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a comprehensive investigation involving the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile victim at a home in Ouray earlier this year.

Remembering Maggie Long
he Park County Sheriff's Office honors and remembers murder victim Maggie Long on the anniversary of her death. Long, a high school senior from Bailey, Colorado, was found murdered in her home on December 1, 2017.
Former CBI Scientist Under Investigation
A former Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) forensic scientist is the subject of an internal affairs and criminal investigation after discovering anomalies in her work as part of DNA testing in the lab. The anomalies were discovered while reviewing a sampling of cases as part of an internal process.
Yvonne “Missy” Woods, a 29-year veteran of CBI’s Forensic Services section is no longer an employee of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Alamosa County Officer-Involved Shooting—Update
At the request of the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Alamosa Police Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting on October 31, 2023.
On Tuesday, at 3:53 p.m., the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a stolen vehicle report at the IHOP restaurant on Main Street.
