On April 3, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Rocky Ford Police Department (RFPD) Officers were dispatched to the area of the 0-100 block of Yucca Dr. in Rocky Ford, CO, on reports of shots fired. RFPD Officers with the assistance of the Otero County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) Deputies who responded to assist, were able to determine that an occupied residence was struck with multiple rounds, and evidence was located nearby along the road. No residents within the home were injured, but extensive property damage occurred. A neighborhood canvas was conducted, and a small black SUV or sedan, along with a white sedan, were observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed shortly after. At this time, it is unknown if either vehicle was involved or fleeing the area due to the gunfire. RFPD has requested the assistance of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in investigating the incident.
