Statewide Stats
The Colorado Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program collects and analyzes statewide crime data to help law enforcement, policymakers, and the public better understand crime trends in Colorado. Administered by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the program compiles information from local, county, state, tribal, and university law enforcement agencies to produce reliable statistics on offenses, arrests, and recovered property. These data are essential for identifying crime patterns, supporting resource allocation, and informing strategic decisions across the criminal justice system. The Colorado UCR Program operates in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and contributes to both state and national crime reports, ensuring consistency and accuracy in crime data reporting.

Nationwide Stats
The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program entered a new era on January 1, 2021, with the transition to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and the launch of dynamic, interactive data tools such as the Crime Data Explorer. These changes enhance the quality, depth, and accessibility of crime data nationwide, allowing law enforcement and the public to better understand and respond to crime trends. Supported by thousands of agencies across the country, the shift to NIBRS underscores the FBI’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, and the continued modernization of crime reporting.
