Evidence Submissions
The Forensic Services Division provides law enforcement and judicial partners with secure, efficient tools for evidence handling and case management. Through the Forensic Advantage Web Services Portal, agencies can electronically prelog and submit evidence, monitor case status, and access laboratory reports in real time. The Submission Guidelines ensure that all testing and reporting meet CBI’s validated standards and maintain strict chain-of-custody integrity. In addition, authorized parties may submit a Request for Discovery to obtain reports or related information for court proceedings, supporting transparency and accuracy throughout the criminal justice process.
General Notice to Customers: The Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services (CBI-FS) outlines the responsibilities and expectations for agencies submitting evidence, including analysis requests, method selection, reporting practices, subcontracting, confidentiality, and evidence disposition. By submitting evidence, agencies agree to CBI-FS procedures for testing, documentation, retention, and communication, ensuring accurate results, proper chain of custody, and compliance with state policies.
