February 20, 2026 – CBI – Bailey, CO – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is aware of unauthorized flyers being circulated in the Bailey community containing false information regarding the investigation into the 2017 murder of 17-year-old Maggie Long.
The CBI wishes to state unequivocally that the Maggie Long Task Force remains active and is aggressively pursuing justice. Contrary to the claims made by an unaffiliated group, investigators from the CBI, the Park County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the ATF continue to work this case as a top priority.
Setting the Record Straight
While the original task force website mentioned in these flyers was deactivated in 2021, this was an administrative change and not an indication that the case has gone cold or that work has ceased. The investigation transitioned to a dedicated state-led task force to streamline resources and digital security.
Authorized Channels Only
The public is urged to exercise caution regarding social media groups and unauthorized "task forces."
- The official Maggie Long Task Force has never operated a Facebook page. * We strongly discourage the public from reporting information to any social media-based groups or non-associated individuals.
- Providing information to unauthorized parties can compromise the integrity of the legal process and delay justice for Maggie.
$75,000 Reward Offered
A $75,000 reward remains available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Maggie Long's death. This reward is offered through the combined efforts of:
