Forensic Services Committee

The mission of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services (CBIFS) is to pursue justice and ensure a safer Colorado by providing excellence in forensic services. To fulfill this mission, CBIFS must maintain collaborative working relationships and communication with members of the criminal justice system and the scientific community. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation Forensic Services Committee (Committee) will help facilitate this collaboration by providing a forum to address and discuss issues, concerns, and oversight relating to the forensic services provided by CBIFS, and their application to and impact on the criminal justice system.

Pursuant to Executive Order B 2024 002, The Committee shall provide the CBI Director with advice and feedback from the criminal justice and scientific communities regarding the use and effectiveness of services provided by CBIFS, as well as aim to enhance communication between CBIFS and stakeholders.

The Committee shall:

  • Review CBIFS quality incidents;

  • Provide input to CBIFS regarding the impact of Forensic Services submission, reporting, and discovery procedural changes;

  • Propose CBIFS improvements; and

  • Provide input on other topics proposed by the Committee Chair
