The CBI has been requested to investigate a use of force incident involving two members of the Kit Carson County Sheriff’s Office (KCCSO) on March 15, 2024.
Just before 6:30 p.m. on Friday, the KCCSO members responded to a residence in Flagler for an active arrest warrant of a suspect in connection to an alleged domestic violence and felony menacing incident from Thursday evening (March 14, 2024). The shooting occurred following a confrontation during the search of the residence and remains under investigation.
The suspect, Everett Wade Jones, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no injuries to members of the KCCSO.
CBI agents are in the process of conducting interviews and reviewing body worn camera video related to this investigation. They are working in conjunction with the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on this active investigation.
