CALEA Accreditation Public Comment Portal (posted February 16, 2023):
The purpose of this public portal is to receive comments regarding CBI's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status.
The comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns and the overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide CBI with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of excellence.
It is important to note: CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently, the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Additionally, there will be no response from CALEA other than acknowledgment of submissions, though the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA accreditation.
Additional OPS responsibilities also include policy development and publication, ensuring each policy is in compliance with standards set by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The OPS is also responsible for conducting department-wide training and organizational compliance and operations such as staff inspections, drug screening, and vehicle inspections.
