Warrant Issued in Limon Homicide

A warrant has been issued in the death of a Limon man that has been classified as a homicide.
Carl James "Butch" Hoopingarner, Jr. (DOB: 03/14/1964), Ohio, is being held in Ohio by the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges at this time.
 

It’s believed Hoopingarner was involved in an altercation with in Everett Dale Kerr (DOB:10/16/1959) in Kerr’s home in the 700 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Limon where Kerr allegedly suffered fatal injuries in that altercation.
 

As reported previously, Limon police officers responded to the home on a welfare check and found Everett on February 19, 2024. No one other than the deceased was in the home.  
 

Hoopingarner left the Limon residence and traveled in Kerr’s vehicle following the incident. He was contacted by deputies with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody on unrelated charges in Buffalo, Ohio on February 20, 2024.
 

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Limon Police Department and the 18th Judicial District are working with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office related to the extradition of Hoopingarner.
