HUMAN REMAINS DISCOVERED IN WILD HORSE MESA

August 21, 2025 – CBI –  Costilla County  , CO – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is issuing the following news release on behalf of the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney's Office.  On August 18, 2025, the District Attorney’s Office responded to a citizen email reporting the discovery of human remains on his property located in the Wild Horse Mesa community in Costilla County.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation Distributes Mobile Fingerprint Devices to Law Enforcement Agencies Across the State

August 20, 2025 – CBI –  Lakewood, CO –The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is enhancing public safety and law enforcement efficiency by providing new mobile identification devices to agencies throughout the state. Since July 2024, the CBI has distributed 264 devices to 37 different agencies, helping officers quickly and accurately identify individuals in the field. 

PHONE SCAM ALERT INVOLVING IMPERSONATION OF CBI

August 19, 2025 – CBI – Lakewood, CO – There have been reports of scammers impersonating members of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation reaching out to people by phone posing as a CBI Cyber Crimes Special Agent.

K-9 Search Conducted in Kristal Reisinger Missing Person Case

August 7, 2025 – CBI – Crestone, CO – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Saguache County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Colorado Forensics Canines, completed a targeted search yesterday, August 6, 2025, as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2016 disappearance of Kristal Reisinger.
