04/07/2020—An inmate of the Fremont County Jail died in what has been ruled a suicide.
Clint Long (DOB: 12/30/72) was discovered deceased in his one-man cell by a jail deputy in the morning hours of April 2, 2020.
Long was taken into custody on several outstanding warrants on February 22, 2020. Long was placed in an isolation pod after being diagnosed with strep throat on April 1. There is no evidence to suggest Long was exposed to or active with COVID-19.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy of Long and ruled his death was a suicide by hanging.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office requested the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the incident.
