Please join the Colorado Bureau of Investigation in welcoming our new deputy director for support services Raymond ‘Ray” Butler.

Butler joined the staff on June 20, 2023 and was sworn in at a ceremony at CBI’s Lakewood headquarters in early July.

Butler comes to the CBI with extensive law enforcement experience, including nearly 20  years with the Arizona Department of Public Safety where he served in several units, including overseeing the state’s Support Services Section. He also served as a corporal in the Kingman (AZ.) Police Department and he served in the Navy. He also served as the assistant chief with the Loveland Police Department prior to joining the CBI.

Deputy Director Butler was selected after a comprehensive hiring process earlier this year. He replaces Chris Andrist who retired from the CBI in late June.

Butler works in the Bureau's headquarters office in Lakewood.
