The 15th Judicial District Attorney's Office released the final findings for the officer-involved shooting occurring in Baca County, Colorado on April 22, 2020.

Just after 5:30 p.m. on April 22, 2020, members of the Baca County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) and other law enforcement agencies were called to a residence near County Road 20 and County Road PP on a call of an armed suspect making threats.

Members of the BCSO worked to negotiate with the armed individual, Christopher Lawson, age 31, at the property into the evening. Just after 8:30 p.m., BCSO Undersheriff Christopher Griffin shot Mr. Lawson after he pointed a firearm at responding officers. Mr. Lawson was later pronounced deceased. No members of law enforcement were injured.

In District Attorney Joshua Vogel's findings, he stated, "Based upon the entire investigation of this incident and the application of Colorado law, I hereby conclude that the legal requirements of the affirmative defenses...are satisfied. Undersheriff Griffin's use of deadly physical force was clearly justified, and that Undersheriff Griffin's conduct did not violate any criminal statute."
