Instructions for Law Enforcement

If you are a criminal justice agency who contracts with a member of the CJIS Vendor Management Program, please read for important information and further instructions.

Just because a company is in our program doesn't mean they are automatically CJIS compliant. It simply means they have committed to fingerprint their staff, which is one of many possible requirements.

In fact, version 5.9 of the CJIS Security Policy has over 661 "shall statements", only one of which is fingerprinting.

Therefore, if you are a customer of one of these vendors, it is your obligation to review their compliance with the CJIS Security Policy. The CBI can help and advise if there are questions during your assessment, but please know that compliance doesn't begin and end with this program.

Please visit our CJIS Security Policy Resources page for helpful documents that will guide you toward compliance in your agency operations and relationships with vendors.

Additionally, the CCIC Coordinator at your agency must "link" your agency with your vendors within the CCIC system. If your agency contracts with any company in the Vendor Directory listed on this site, the CCIC Coordinator must follow the steps in the Vendor Management Program chapter of the CCIC System User Guide (available on CJIS Portal).
