Update: Serious Bodily Injury Incident in Platteville

 Agents with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continue to investigate an incident where a woman in the back of a patrol car was struck by a train near US85 and County Rd. 36, north of Platteville, just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022. She sustained Serious Bodily Injuries (SBI) and was taken to a Greeley hospital for treatment. 

The woman has been identified as Yareni Rios-Gonzalez (age 20, Greeley) . She remains in a Greeley hospital with multiple injuries and is expected to survive.

No one else was injured during the incident.

Police Investigating SBI Incident in Platteville

Multiple agencies are investigating a critical incident where an individual detained by police sustained serious bodily injuries near US85 and County Rd. 36 just north of Platteville just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022.

Although early in the investigation, it’s believed the initial call was reported as an alleged road rage incident involving a firearm in Ft. Lupton earlier in the evening.

Stabbing Death in La Junta

The La Junta Police Department, with assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, continues to investigate a stabbing that left one man dead.

On Friday, August 12, 2022, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the La Junta Police Department received a 911 call of a man lying in the street at the intersection of 9th Street and Santa Fe Avenue. The victim was transported to the Arkansas Regional Valley Medical Center in La Junta where he later died.

One Dead in Weekend Shooting in Costilla County

Deputies with the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, are investigating a homicide at the Sangre de Cristo Subdivision at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

The statewide grand jury indicted Jeremy Carter, 42, of Fort Morgan on 33 counts of felony theft for allegedly taking payments from clients throughout Colorado to build pole barns and failing to complete the projects, Attorney General Phil Weiser announced today.

Remains of Missing Clear Creek Woman Identified

Remains recovered in Clear Creek County earlier this summer have been identified as a woman who went missing in the county in February 2022.

On February, 13, 2022, Melinda Tafoya-Deltoro (age 38) called the Clear Creek County 911 Center from the Miner’s Candle area, stating that she was stuck in the snow. Deputies responded to the area and located a vehicle, but not Tafoya-Deltoro. An extensive search of the area at the time of her disappearance and in the following months showed no signs of the missing woman.

Shooting Victims Named in Lamar Triple Shooting

Through the Prowers County Coroner’s Office and Lamar Police Department, the names of those involved in the triple shooting in Lamar, Colorado have been released.


Jourden White, age 24, shot three people living in the Lamar Apartments (700 Block of Mullen St.) in Lamar just before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd.  White then fled the scene.

Shooting Investigation in Lamar Continues

The investigation of a shooting that killed two and injured one in Lamar, Colorado over the weekend continues.


Police believe a 24-year-old male shot three people living in the Lamar Apartments (700 Block of Mullen St.) in Lamar just before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd.  The suspect then fled the scene. 

Lamar Police, CBI Investigate Triple Shooting

Members of the Lamar Police Department responded to a triple shooting at an apartment complex in the 700 Block of Mullen St., just before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

Lamar police officers were called to the Lamar Apartments on a shots-fired incident on Saturday afternoon. Upon arriving at the apartment, officers discovered three individuals who were shot, two females and one male. The male and one female were pronounced deceased at the scene. The second female was transported to the hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown.
