Investigative Agents with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation were requested to provide investigative assistance related to a homicide investigation in Nunn, a town in Weld County.

An 18-year-old female from Texas has been charged in connection to the death of her newborn child in Weld County.

Leiyla Cepeda was arrested and charged Friday with two counts of first-degree murder in Weld district court.

Three Colorado 5th-grade students were recognized for their award-winning posters as part of the National Missing Children’s Day poster contest.

Members of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) received the extraordinary honor of being named one of the 2022 Tom Clements Better Government Award winners in March. 

The following members of the CBI were recognized for their outstanding work to help solve several Colorado cold cases in the last year, some dating back more than 40 years.

An overnight shooting in Federal Heights sent two people to the hospital on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

Federal Heights police officers were called to an apartment in the 1300 block of W. 84 Ave. on a call of shots fired at a party just after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Police officers discovered two victims with injuries from gunshot wounds, a 17-year-old juvenile male and a 19-year-old female. Their injuries are not life threatening.

The Saguache County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) continues to investigate an alleged homicide occurring in the town of Villa Grove in Saguache County at approximately 10:30 p.m. on February 23, 2022.

The SCSO received a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the 34100 block of County Rd. LL57 on Wednesday night. Deputies arrived at the home and located Brian Taylor (DOB: 10/14/1980), Moffat, inside the residence with possible stab wounds. Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Saguache County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is investigating an alleged homicide occurring in the town of Villa Grove in Saguache County at approximately 10:30 p.m. on February 23, 2022.

The SCSO received a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the 34100 block of County Rd. LL57 on Wednesday night. Deputies arrived at the home and located a male inside the residence with possible stab wounds. The unidentified male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has extended the deadline for entries for the Missing Children Poster contest to February 14. The contest is open to 5th grade students across Colorado as part of a national campaign sponsored by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ).

Each year, the US DOJ takes time to commemorate the valiant and unselfish acts of the many organizations and individuals who bring our missing children home. Since 1983, May 25th has been designated as National Missing Children’s Day.

Colorado Missing Persons Day is being honored with a series of events at the state Capitol building (200 E. Colfax Avenue) beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022. In addition to a Resolution being read at the Capitol, a prayer vigil will honor more than 1,000 individuals currently missing for more than six months in the State of Colorado.
