Leadville police officers were called to a home in the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Leadville following a shots fired call around 1:00 AM on Saturday morning (August 31, 2024).
Upon arrival, they found a woman deceased inside the residence from an apparent gunshot wound, and a male in the home with an apparent gunshot wound. The male was taken to a local hospital and later transported to the Denver area for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.
The Colorado Bureau of investigation and the Leadville Police Department, with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, along with the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office are investigating this incident.
The names of the individuals are not being released at this time; however, they are known to one another and are residents of the home. There is no threat to the community.
