Man Arrested for Homicide, Investigation Begins
GEORGETOWN, CO – Today, the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office Deputies and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation responded to a residence, approximately 1.5 miles north of Idaho Springs off of Highway 103, in unincorporated Clear Creek County. An elderly female was deceased at the location, the apparent victim of a gunshot wound.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide and a relative of the victim is in custody at the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s office detention facility on suspicion of murder. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Sheriff’s office.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. The investigation is on-going, and more details will be provided as they become available. As there is only one suspect who is in custody there is no cause for local residents and visitors to be concerned for their safety at this time on the basis of this incident.
