Kit Carson County Sheriff's Office, CBI Investigate Homicide in Flagler

06/04/2019—The Kit Carson County Sheriff’s Office (KCCSO) requested the assistance of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate an alleged homicide occurring in the town of Flagler on June 3, 2019.

Just before 8:00p.m. on Monday evening, deputies with the KCCSO were called to a home in the 600 block of Navajo Avenue in Flagler where a woman was found shot. Mary Schaefer (DOB: 10/24/1976) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Michael Crowe (DOB: 08/21/1955) was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and transported to the Kit Carson Detention Facility where he is currently being held without bond. 

Additional details involving the circumstances of the shooting are being investigated.

The investigation is ongoing with the KCCSO, CBI and the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Flagler is located approximately 120 miles from Denver on the Eastern Plains.
