HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN BLUE RIVER; SUSPECT IN CUSTODY ON UNRELATED CHARGES BLUE RIVER, CO

BLUE RIVER, CO – July 8, 2025 – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with help from the Blue River Police Department, are currently investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday evening in the 100 block of Aspen Meadows in Blue River. A male suspect has been taken into custody on charges unrelated to the shooting incident.

At approximately 6:20 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025, the Blue River Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting or shots fired in the Aspen Meadows Circle area. Officers responded to the scene and, upon arrival, also heard the sound of gunfire.

Law enforcement personnel called out an individual from a nearby home, who was subsequently taken into custody without incident. A search of the residence was then conducted, leading to the discovery of a deceased individual inside the home. The victim has not yet been identified, pending notification of next of kin. The Summit County Coroner's Office will release the victim's identity at a later time.

Authorities emphasize that this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat or danger to the community. The male suspect's identity is not being released at this time due to the active and ongoing investigation.

The CBI is the lead agency in this investigation, with assistance from the Blue River Police Department.
