Attention 5th Graders: Help Bring Missing Children Home by Participating in the National Missing Children's Day Poster Contest

January 22, 2025 – CBI –  Lakewood, CO –The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is joining the U.S. Department of Justice to invite all 5th graders to participate in the National Missing Children's Day Poster Contest. This is a great opportunity for students to use their creativity to raise awareness about missing children and help bring them home.

Win a Trip to Washington, D.C.!

In addition to the satisfaction of helping a worthy cause, the grand prize winner of the contest will win a trip to Washington, D.C., for themselves, their parents/guardians, and their teacher!

Contest Theme and Rules

The theme of this year's contest is "Bringing Our Missing Children Home." Students are encouraged to create posters that reflect this theme in a creative and eye-catching way.

Here are the key rules of the contest:

  • Posters must be 8 1⁄2 x 14 inches in size.
  • The slogan "Bringing Our Missing Children Home" must be included on the poster.
  • Posters must be created by hand. No printed images, collages, or stamping are allowed.
  • Students should use their creativity and originality in designing their posters. A variety of art materials are acceptable, including acrylics, watercolor, pencil, charcoal, magic markers, spray paint, crayons, and pastels. For inspiration, students can view previous artwork in the Featured Resources section of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) website at ncjtc.org/mcd.
  • Each poster must be submitted with a completed application form, which includes a description of the poster and a brief biography of the artist.

How to Submit Your Poster

Posters must be submitted to the state contest manager with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for local judging by the deadline. For any questions about the contest please contact the State Poster Contest Manager at melissa.mcgaw@state.co.us.
