Two Arrested in Connection With the San Luis Valley Human Remains Cases

Two Alamosa men have been arrested in connection with the investigation involving human remains located in the San Luis Valley in late 2020, while Adre Baroz faces additional charges in the case. 


On January 18, 2021, Alamosa Police Department officers arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in the homicide of Myron Robert Martinez (DOB: 11/15/1982) of Del Norte, whose remains were located in Conejos County in November 2020. 

  • Julius Anthony Baroz (DOB: 03-07-1990), Alamosa, faces charges of Murder in the First Degree and Tampering with Deceased Human Remains in connection with the death of Martinez. Julius Baroz is being held at the Alamosa County Detention Center on $250,000 bond. 
  • CJ Walter Dominguez (DOB: 12-11-1993), Alamosa, faces charges of Tampering with Deceased Human Remains, Accessory to Murder in the First Degree and Second Degree Kidnapping. Dominguez is being held at the Alamosa County Detention Center on $100,000 bond. 


The 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced that Adre Baroz (DOB: 10/28/1994), Sanford, faces two additional charges of Murder in the First Degree and two additional charges of Tampering with Deceased Human Remains related to the deaths of Myron Martinez and Shayla Hammel (DOB: 11/03/1986). Adre Baroz continues to be held at the Alamosa County Detention Center without bond. 

Due to an order by the court, details related to this active/ongoing investigation cannot be released at this time. The affidavits and warrants have been sealed.   

****UPDATE****

While search warrants remain sealed in the San Luis Valley Human Remains case, investigators just learned that a 12th Judicial District judge plans to unseal the arrest warrants related to J. Baroz and Dominguez. That information must be obtained through the courts whenever it becomes available. The CBI has no information as to when that information will be made public.
