The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is proud to announce the arrest of a longtime wanted fugitive on Wednesday morning, May 24, 2023.

In April, CBI received a tip about Alejandro Gamboa-Miranda (DOB: 09/30/1973) AKA Javier Gomez.

He had two active warrants (one dating back to 2005): one for ID theft and one for drug charges.

According to records, Gamboa-Miranda worked in the late 1990s to establish two identities: One under his real name and a second one under the name Javier Gomez. He used the second fraudulent identity to commit multiple crimes. Gamboa-Miranda was able to live for decades using both identifications to avoid detection and arrest. He had multiple warrants under the false name.

After receiving the tip in April, CBI worked to identify his address, associates and associated vehicles. Agents then conducted surveillance at his home and were able to verify the information provided in the tip using investigative techniques, including fingerprint comparisons.

On the morning of May 24, 2023, Gamboa-Miranda was arrested near the 2700 block of Larimer Street in Denver and taken to the Denver County Jail. The CBI would like to thank Denver Police for assisting with this investigation.
