GOV. POLIS TO JOIN CBI PRESS CONFERENCE UPDATING DAVIS MORTUARY CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

August 22, 2025 – CBI –  Pueblo, CO – Governor Jared Polis and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with Pueblo County government and law enforcement partners will hold a press conference today at 1 p.m. to update the investigation into Davis Mortuary.

The press conference will be held at the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, 101 W. 10th St., Pueblo, CO 81003.

Law enforcement and County Officials intend to share new information on how coroner duties will be handled in Pueblo County going forward and the 10th Judicial District Attorney intends to address the issue of prosecutions that may have involved Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter and why any potential criminal charges could take a considerable time to file.

As has been previously shared, thanks to a new law passed in 2024 the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies’ (DORA) Division of Professions and Occupations recently conducted it's first annual inspection at Davis Mortuary, located at 128 Broadway Ave. in Pueblo. As a result of that inspection, Davis Mortuary has been issued a summary suspension and all of its operations have ceased.
