Office of Professional Standards

The Office of Professional Standards (OPS) is responsible for receiving, processing, and investigating the compliments and complaints made regarding members of the CBI from the public. Compliments and/or complaints may be made to the OPS by the public through the CBI website, in person, in writing, or by mail. Each compliment or complaint will receive a response either from the OPS or a member of the CBI which may be assigned responsibility to assist in the matter. The OPS is responsible for the documentation and tracking of the early warning system and Internal Affairs matters. Internal Affairs Statistics may be found in the CBI Annual Report on the CBI website.


Additional OPS responsibilities also include policy development and publication, ensuring each policy is in compliance with standards set by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).  The OPS is also responsible for conducting department wide training and organizational compliance and operations such as staff inspections, drug screening, and vehicle inspections.
